On Friday 19th August 2016, five members of Strathmore Business School Alumni Association paid visited Eastlands College of Technology. The association comprised of Dr. Vincent Ogutu the Vice Dean, Executive Talent Development at Strathmore Business School, Mr. Chris Gathingu CEO and founder of Tangazo Letu Limited, Mr. Brian Nyakuli Allumni Relations Laison at Strathmore Business School and Mrs. Wangui Kanyotu Kariuki Head of Allumni Relations at Strathmore Business School.
They were given a college tour which was led by ECT’s principal Mr. Austine Omeno and the registrar Mr. Jeremiah Siang’ani. The alumni were excited of the college’s advancement in recent past. This was in terms of increased student population, constrictions and other activities. They were also happy about ECT’s continuous empowerment to the youths through the courses offered, sports activities which were taking place by then and other unmentioned ones.
Mr Gathingu (CEO and founder Tangazo Letu) emphasized on teaching people how to fish by equipping them with fishing nets and boats. This is a better way of making responsible citizens who will be of self-reliant and useful to the society at large.
Dr. Vincent Ogutu gave a brief overview of his story. He said that he grew up in Eastlands and so he knows the place better. He was also enthused of the recent developments in the college, life skills lessons which are being taught in the college, sporting activities among other things.
Mr. Austine Omeno the principal of Eastlands College of Technology who received the alumni association said that ECT would be happy if it received support in facilitating Dual Training System which is a new program being implemented in the college.
The alumni association later gave a cheque of Kshs 400,000 as a sign of rediness to support Eastlands College of Technology.
