Over the years, the Eastlands College of Technology (ECT) has improved mostly because of its relationships with various partners. Without partners like International Youth Foundation (IYF), Microsoft Inc., and Samsung in 2003, the College would not be where it is.
One of our most formidable partners has been Simba Foundation. It was the founding partner in regards Dual Training System (DTS). Moreover, it has been offering financial support through bursaries, providing equipment and On Job Training (OJT) opportunities to our trainees.
At the moment ECT is working with more than 70 partners from multiple sectors and it hopes to attract and secure more along the way. Some of the local partners that it has worked with include Tullow Oil Kenya, Kenya Commercial Bank Foundation under the 2jiajiri Programme, Safaricom Foundation, Momentum Credit Limited, Paytech Ltd, Strathmore University, and East Africa Spectre Limited to mention but a few.
There are also foreign partners who are working with ECT including ACTEC, ICEP, GIZ, AHK and Swiss Contact, XABEC College, and Schneider Electric among others.
As a result of these partnerships, student placements in the industries has improved. At the moment the placement rate is over 90% in Pre-Engineering programs and Diploma courses, with all students having been placed in various industries.
Over the years, the employability rate of Eastlands College of Technology (ECT) graduates has reached 60% in direct employment, 25% in indirect employment, and 15% end up starting businesses thereby creating job opportunities for fellow youths. All these milestones have made ECT one of the best colleges in Kenya offering engineering, ICT, and entrepreneurship courses.
ECT is now looking outside Kenya into East and Central Africa. It’s also thinking of going South.
