Eastlands College of Technology hosted a two-week training involving Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Onboard Diagnosis (OBD) and Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) in the Automotive field. This training was being conducted by Mrs. Heike Eggers and Mr. Daniel Gasch from Handswerkskammer Frankfurt Rhein Main, a Germany industrial company. The purpose of this training was to give a general overview of Dual training system in Automotive Technology as it happens in Germany. The training comprised of the College’s Automotive Engineering departmental staff members and other invited visitors from Kabete Polytechnic, St Kizito Institute, National Training Authority (NITA).
Mrs. Heike conducted the theoretical part on Competency Based Education Training (CBET) which involved soft skill; life skills, teamwork, Leadership, work ownership, creativity and self-motivation.
This training aimed at empowering the participants with relevant skills which is supposed to be passed onto the students. Eastlands College of Technology aims at creating highly qualified workmen through Dual Training System and such an initiative of training the trainers by the experts is one of the methods the College is using to achieve its goal.
